[New] How to merge file versions in LegalOn

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This article explains the features of the new LegalOn. For information on the current version’s product features, please refer to this page.

Merging file versions helps you manage the full history of a contract by grouping related files under one version list. This allows for better organization, comparison, and tracking of contract progression.

Option 1: Merge from suggested version candidates

  1. Go to the [Contracts] list.

  2. Click on the contract file you want to merge others into.

  3. In the [Versions] tab (right panel), hover to reveal the menu.

  4. Under [Suggestions for related versions], review the proposed merge candidates.
→ Hover over a file to see its details.

  5. Click the [+] icon next to the file you want to merge.

  6. Select the file that should retain the attributes (e.g., workspace, contract manager).

  7. Click [Merge] to complete.

🧠 The selected “primary” file will retain all attribute data.

Option 2: Search and manually select a version to merge

1–4. Follow the same steps as above to open the Version list and view suggestions.
5. Click [Search] under the Suggested versions section.
6. Set your search filters (file name, upload date, etc.) and click [Search].
7. Click [+] next to the file you wish to merge.
8. Select which file should retain attributes, then click [Merge].

⚠️ Notes

  • Only files marked as Contract type can be merged. My templates and Other Files cannot be merged.

  • You cannot merge two files if both already have multiple versions.

  • If both files have linked files or similar contracts, all links will be preserved, but only the primary file’s attributes and similar contract links will be kept.

  • Versions will be sorted by upload date by default. If the order appears incorrect, you can manually reorder versions. See: [How to reorder files in a Version list].
