If you're using Google Workspace mailboxes for warmup, you may notice warmup emails showing up in an inbox you check regularly — even after setting up warmup filters or changing your forwarding address. This is expected behavior for Google Workspace mailboxes, and there are a few good ways to keep your inbox clean.
Why this happens
Warmup Filters are built for the Maildoso Master Inbox, which is only used by SMTP mailboxes. Google Workspace mailboxes don't route through the Master Inbox, so warmup filters don't apply to them.
Google Workspace mailboxes forward to an external email address that you choose (set under Bulk Actions → Change Forwarding Address). This field always needs a valid external address — it can't be left empty or turned off.
In short: for Google Workspace mailboxes, warmup traffic and real replies both arrive at whatever external address you've set as the forwarding destination, and there's currently no built-in filter to separate them there.
What you can do about it
Point forwarding at an inbox you don't check day-to-day. Since the forwarding address can't be blank, set it to an address you're not actively monitoring, then check it only when you need to.
Set up a filter or rule at the destination inbox. Most email providers let you create a rule based on sender or subject that automatically archives or labels warmup emails, keeping your main inbox clean without losing anything.
Manage replies from your sequencer instead. If you're running warmup and campaigns through a sequencer (like Instantly or Smartlead), you can read and manage replies directly from its unified inbox rather than relying on your forwarding inbox at all.
