Similarly to labels, you can also create and add different tags to your mentions to keep them organized based on your needs.

Tagging your mentions is useful to track the performance of specific topics over time. Tags are usually connected to a topic, person, or theme (for example: Customer Satisfaction, CEO, Emergency).

You can add tags either to an individual mention or with a bulk action through the “All Mentions” dashboard, where you can add, remove, or create a new tag as well.

How do I add a tag?

To add a tag, you can simply navigate to the mention you want, find the tag icon on the bottom left, and click on it. You can then either choose from the existing tags or create a new one.

Automation Tip: You can also automate the process of tagging by creating automation rules and/or using our AI tagging feature as well. You can find more information here: “Automations and Tags” & AI Tagging.

How do I remove a tag?

You can remove a tag by clicking the “x” button on the tag in the mention.

How can I customize my tags' color?

  • Navigate to “Automation & Tags” in the Mentionlytics menu.

  • For each existing tag (or when creating new ones), click on the small circle next to the tag name.

  • Choose your desired color from the color picker.

How can I view top tags?

  • Go to your Overview Dashboard or open your desired report to view “Top Tags”.

  • You can find options to switch between bar, doughnut, and line charts.

  • To do that, edit the “Top Tags” component and select your desired chart type.

How can I filter by Tag?

The Tagged filter in the main filters of the platform helps you sort your results based on the tags you have created, to see social listening results according to your system for organizing mentions.

With the Tagged filter, you can filter any mention with a specific assigned Tag. This works with manual and AI tags as well.

You can choose to either include or exclude mentions based on a specific tag (e.g., to see all mentions without the tag “CEO”).

Examples of use cases for Tags

1. Industry-Wide Monitoring and Share of Voice Calculation

Let’s say you want to monitor an entire industry with 100 different brands. Instead of setting up 100 separate keyword trackers, you can use a few broad keywords to capture industry conversations and competitors.

Then, all you have to do is create 100 automated rules to tag each mention based on the brand name it contains.

With the doughnut and line charts, you can easily visualize the Share of Voice for each brand within the industry, gaining valuable insights into market dynamics.

2. Comprehensive Product Performance Tracking

Imagine you work for a brand with a diverse product line. Instead of monitoring each product separately, you can use automated rules to tag mentions for each product.

This allows you to generate performance graphs for each product, track trends over time, and filter results to focus on specific product discussions.

That way, you don’t need many different keyword trackers. You consolidate the data in one place.
