Can I Delete a Mention?

Learn how to delete mentions and what you should be aware of.

Written by Victoria

Of course, you can delete any mention directly from your Mentionlytics feed. Here's how to do it and what you need to know.

How to Delete a Mention

To delete a mention, click the Delete icon at the bottom of the mention card. A confirmation pop-up will appear before anything is removed.

The Delete Pop-up — Read Carefully

When you click Delete, a dialog box will appear with the following options:

delete options

DELETE this Mention is selected by default. This will permanently remove the mention from your account.

You will also see two optional checkboxes:

☐ Remove all comments of this mention

In case the mention has comments captured alongside it, checking this box will delete those as well. Leave it unchecked if you want to remove only the main post.

☐ BAN, STOP TRACKING new mentions from: [source name]

This is the most important option to be aware of. Checking this box will permanently ban that source, meaning Mentionlytics will no longer capture any future mentions from that profile or website.

If you choose this option, another checkbox will appear, which allows you to delete all existing mentions from this profile, as you may see in the screenshot above.

⚠️ Use this option with caution. Banning a source is permanent. Only check this box if you are certain you never want to see content from that source again.

You can see banned profiles in Settings → Banned Profiles. There you have the option to reactivate a profile.

Once you've made your selection, click Delete to confirm, or Cancel to go back without making any changes.

Bulk Actions - Delete

You can delete mentions in bulk through the Bulk actions.
