Short on Time? Here’s How to Adjust Your Workout

Life gets busy — and your workouts are designed to flex with you.

Weekly Moves gives you the option to choose a workout length that fits your day, offering 30- or 60-minute versions to help you stay consistent whether you have a full hour or just a shorter window. Both versions use the same exercises and the same reps — the 30-minute version simply runs fewer sets and rounds.

How to choose your workout length

  1. Open the Moves App and head to Weekly Moves

  2. Select your workout for the day

  3. When prompted, choose your workout duration

  4. Choose if you're working out at Home or the Gym (learn more here)

  5. Start your workout

    1. Note: Once you select a duration and start the workout, you cannot switch mid-session. However, you can restart the workout by tapping the back/refresh arrow (next to the heart icon) to choose a different duration.

You can adjust this day by day depending on your schedule.

Don’t see the duration option? If you’ve already edited that workout — adjusted sets, deleted an exercise, or removed a block — it locks in at whichever duration you were on, and the time options disappear.

Look for the circular arrow in the top right corner of the workout: that’s how you know it’s been edited. Tap it to undo your changes and bring the duration choice back, then pick your length before editing anything.

How to make the most of a shorter workout

Already on the 30-minute version and still tight on time? These adjustments help trim it further:

  • Prioritize your warm-up and main strength work

  • Reduce reps if needed

  • Skip or shorten later rounds

  • End after the primary lifts if you’re running out of time

  • To do fewer rounds of an exercise (e.g. 2 instead of 3): Tap the (...) next to the exercise, tap Customize, then adjust the number of sets using the or + buttons.

  • To remove a single exercise (but keep the rest of the block):
Tap the (...) next to that exercise, then tap Delete.

  • To remove an entire block (all exercises in it): Press and hold on the block, and while still holding, swipe left. Then tap Delete.

We've got your back!: All Moves workouts are intentionally designed so that the most important exercises come first, meaning you’ll still get an effective session — even if you don’t complete every section.

Why this works

Moves isn’t built like a follow-along workout video with a perfectly fixed timeline.

Instead, you’re meant to move at your own pace. That means your workout can flex based on:

  • Your rest time

  • Equipment availability

  • Your environment (home, gym, kids, interruptions — real life!)

By prioritizing key movements at the start, you can adjust your workout without losing progress.

Why your workout might take longer than expected

Totally normal — and you’re not doing anything wrong. 💙

The time shown in the app is an estimate based on a steady pace, but your actual workout may vary depending on:

  • Longer rest breaks (especially as weights get heavier)

  • Waiting for equipment

  • Pausing for life interruptions

  • Slowing down to focus on form

All of this is part of making your workout work for you.

The bottom line

You don’t need a perfect hour to make progress.

Whether you have 20 minutes or 60, you can adjust your workout to fit your day — and still get meaningful, effective work in. What matters most is showing up and staying consistent. 💙
