How do I use an alternate exercise?

Most of your workouts will include PT-recommended alternate exercises that give you the option to modify the movement to fit your life stage, difficulty level, available equipment, injury, or just match what you can do that day.

Please note: Not all workouts and exercises offer alternate exercises.

You can find alternate exercises in three main places:

Before a Workout

  1. Workout Overview Screen: You can customize your workout before you begin by swapping exercises directly from the workout overview page.

    1. Tap on the exercise you want to replace.

    2. Click on "Alternates."

    3. Select your preferred alternative and hit "Swap" to confirm the change.

During a Workout

1. List View: Look for the 3-button icon, click on it, and select "Alternates" from the drop-down menu.

2. Guided View Shortcut: In addition to the 3-button icon, look for the swap icon on the exercise image. Tap there as a shortcut to the exercise alternate screen.

When viewing alternate exercises, you’ll see a short description beneath each one (e.g., easier, knee-friendly). To learn more about any alternate exercise, simply tap the image to open its detailed info screen.
