From here, your items move into our full inspection process, which we've outlined step by step below.
MPB's inspection process
Every item we receive goes through a full, structured inspection carried out by our product specialist team. This is a consistent, multi-step process designed to make sure your quote accurately reflects the exact item and condition of the kit you've sent us.
Here's what happens at each stage:
1. We receive your parcel
As soon as your parcel arrives, we match it to your transaction and log it securely into our system. This means every item is tracked from the moment it reaches us right through to your final quote.
2. We unpack and organise your equipment
Each item is carefully unpacked and laid out individually, along with any accessories. Organising everything this way lets our specialists work through your kit methodically, rather than checking items in a rush or out of order.
3. We verify every item
We check that each product matches what you told us when building your quote - including the accessories included. If we find an item you sent that wasn't part of your original quote, we'll add it to your transaction so it's accounted for.
4. We inspect the cosmetic condition
Every item is examined closely for signs of wear, scratches, marks, dents, paint loss, and other cosmetic details. Based on what we find, we assign a condition grade using our standard grading criteria, so the same standards apply consistently across every item we check.
5. We test functionality
Our product specialists carry out a thorough series of functional checks. Depending on the item, this can include:
Autofocus performance
Buttons and dials
LCD screens
Memory card slots
Ports
Stabilisation systems
Shutter count (where applicable)
This step is about confirming the item works as expected.
6. We document the condition
We take high-quality photographs of your equipment to create a clear visual record of its condition at the point of inspection. These images support our findings and help keep grading consistent across every item we check.
7. We review the complete transaction
Once every individual item has been inspected, we carry out a final review of the whole transaction. This is to make sure nothing's been missed, and that every product, accessory, and observation has been accurately recorded before we finalise anything.
8. We confirm your final valuation
If everything matches your original quote, we'll move your transaction forward. If we've found any differences in condition, model, or functionality, we'll update your valuation and clearly explain any changes before asking how you'd like to proceed.
Key areas MPB checks
