Do Replaced Exercises Stay in the Plan for Future Training Weeks?

Here’s what to keep in mind when replacing exercises.

When you replace an exercise with an alternative, whether that change stays in future training weeks depends on the option you select:

  • "Replace permanently": The new exercise will remain in your plan for the coming training weeks.

  • "Replace once": The change only applies to the current session and will not carry over to the next week.

Please note that the replacement only affects the specific training session in which you made the change. If the same exercise is scheduled on another training day, it will remain unchanged unless you manually swap it out there as well.

Volume Adjustment After Deload

Two weeks after your last deload, MyFitCoach reviews your training performance. As part of this automatic volume adjustment, your plan may be slightly modified. This means that previously replaced exercises could be changed again—especially if the algorithm detects a need for optimization, such as plateaued progress or imbalanced training loads.

What if I Keep Seeing Exercises I Can’t Perform?

If you frequently encounter exercises that you can't do due to equipment limitations or physical constraints, you can tailor your settings:

These adjustments help align your training plan more closely with your actual capabilities and minimize the need for manual swaps.

Best Practice for Replacing Exercises

When replacing an exercise, we generally recommend choosing an alternative from the "Similar Exercises" section. These target the same primary muscle and help maintain your intended training volume.

If no suitable option is available there, you can choose from "All Exercises", but make sure your selection aligns with the original movement in terms of intensity, volume, and target muscle.

➡️ Note: If your replacement significantly alters your training volume, the algorithm may automatically readjust your plan at the end of the training week to maintain consistency with our training philosophy.
