Auto Remove LP After Transfer

Set a location to drop the LP automatically when an LP is transferred or put away into it, so stock is stored loose without a manual LP-removal step. Covers which transfer flows apply it.

Overview

When you transfer or put away an LP (license plate) into a location that doesn't track LPs, such as a pick shelf, you usually want the stock stored loose. The Auto Remove LP After Transfer location setting does this automatically: when an LP transfer or LP putaway into the location completes, Logiwa IO stores the stock without the LP. Operators scan exactly as before.

When to use it

Turn it on for a location when:

  • It's a pick (or other non-LP) location where items sit loose, without LP labels.

  • Stock regularly arrives there on LPs through mobile Transfer LP, Directed LP Putaway, or Transfer LP on the web.

Example: Pallets arrive at PICK-A-01 as LP-7001, LP-7002… Pickers never scan LPs there. With the setting on, each pallet's cases are stored at PICK-A-01 without an LP.

Prerequisites

  • Access to location setup on the web app.

Turn it on for a location

  1. Go to Settings > Master Data > Locations.

  2. Open the location, or click Create Location for a new one.

  3. On the Information tab, find the Location Rules section.

  4. Click the Auto Remove LP After Transfer pill so it's highlighted. The tooltip reads: "When enabled, LPs are automatically removed when inventory is put away or transferred into this location, and items are stored without LP association."

  5. Click Save.

The setting is off by default for new and existing locations.

💡 Many locations at once: use the Location Excel import or update file and set the Auto Remove LP After Transfer column to TRUE for each location. If the column is left out, locations stay off. It's a separate column from Auto Remove LP After Replenishment. The setting is also available on the Open API location create/update endpoints.

How it works

When an LP transfer completes, Logiwa IO checks the location the stock actually went to:

Destination

Setting

Result

Example

A location

On

Stock is stored without the LP

LP-7001 → PICK-A-01 (on): 24 loose cases at PICK-A-01

A location

Off

Stock stays on the LP (standard)

LP-7001 → RACK-B-03 (off): LP-7001 at RACK-B-03

An LP or parent LP

Any

Setting ignored; stock stays on an LP, even if that LP sits in a location with the setting on

LP-7001 → parent LP CART-2 parked at PICK-A-01: LP kept

More details:

  • Source LP record: its quantity drops by what was moved. If it reaches 0, the LP stays in the system with quantity 0. It isn't deleted.

  • Child LPs: if a child LP on a parent LP is moved to a location with the setting on, the child's stock is stored without an LP. The parent LP isn't affected.

  • Overridden destinations: if the operator puts the LP somewhere other than the suggested location, the setting of the location actually scanned is used.

Example: Directed putaway suggests RACK-B-03 (off), but the operator scans PICK-A-01 (on). The stock is stored loose at PICK-A-01.

Which flows apply it

Flow

Applies?

Mobile Transfer LP

Yes

Mobile Directed LP Putaway

Yes

Mobile directed putaway LP (Sequential)

Yes

Web Inventory by Location → Transfer LP

Yes

Open API LP transfer (LP → location only)

Transfer Product, Transfer Location

No

Picking, receiving, counting

No

Replenishment

No. It uses its own setting, Auto Remove LP After Replenishment

The two settings are independent: turning one on doesn't affect the other.

Common questions

Does this change the operator's scanning steps? No. Only what's stored at the end changes.

Does it apply to LP-to-LP transfers? No. If the destination is an LP (including child LP → parent LP), the LP is always kept.

What if I move only some units out of an LP with Transfer Product? The setting doesn't apply to Transfer Product. Units taken out of an LP with Transfer Product to a location are stored loose anyway, because the target is the location.

Should I also turn on Auto Remove LP After Replenishment? Only if replenishment also brings LPs into this location. Each setting covers its own flow.
