Serial numbers play a vital role in the efficient management of inventory and accurate record-keeping within Logiwa. By tracking serial numbers, businesses can ensure effective product tracking, identify faulty items, and streamline warranty management processes. This article provides an overview of the usage of serial numbers in the Logiwa system. It covers topics such as the setup of serial number scanning, how they show up during operations, and their tracking within the system.

Enable Serial Number Tracking for a Product

Serial number tracking can be enabled when creating a product or when editing the product after the fact from the Advanced section. Serial numbers can be set to be scanned during receiving and packing or only at packing, along with other guidelines.

Add Inventory for Products with Serial Number Tracking

To manually add inventory to a product with serial number tracking enabled, we recommend using the mobile app.

While it is possible to add inventory using the desktop version of Logiwa if Scan Serial Number During Packing Only is enabled for a product, it cannot be done for products with Scan Serial Number During Receiving and Packing enabled.

Transfer Operations

During transfer operations, such as putaway and picking, our system does not require the scanning of serial numbers. This is done in order to streamline the process and increase efficiency, as tracking serial numbers during transfer operations requires additional time and effort from employees.

Serial Number Report

Serial number tracking, shipment history, and receiving history can be viewed from the Serial Number Report. See our dedicated article to learn more.
