FAQ: Text Messaging Capabilities

Our bulk text messaging tools (including "text-to-give" and "text-to-pledge") are a perfect way to make sure your time-sensitive messages get sent out on time - and to the right audience.

Note: If the option to set up the text-to-give or bulk texting functionality does not appear under your 'Settings', it may not be a part of your subscription. 1) How does text-to-give work?

After your donors text 'Give' or 'Donate' to a number corresponding to the one found within your 'Donor Management' system, they will immediately receive a text back with a link to the mobile version of whichever 'Everyday Giving' or 'Essential Events' page you have selected.

When they visit that link, they can complete their donation, and the funds are then sent to you just like any other standard donation.

3) How do I instruct my donors to use the text-to-give feature?

You will be assigned a unique 10-digit phone number you can promote on flyers, on the big screen at your event, in communications, or anywhere else you like. You can find this number under 'Settings', in your 'Donor Management' system, in the 'Text-to-Give Settings' section.

4) What if I want to use a shortened phone number (i.e. less than 10 digits)?

Shortened phone numbers, or "short codes," are not available with our text-to-give feature; using a unique, 10-digit phone number allows your contacts to reply directly to the text messages you send. This adds a personal touch, helping many donors feel they are corresponding with a real person and not an automated message.

5) Can I use the text-to-give feature for my event?

Yes, you can use the text-to-give feature for any live Events page!


​6) Can my donors pledge using the text-to-pledge feature?

Yes! Your donors can text the word 'Pledge' to the same ten-digit number and create a pledge that will be automatically added to your 'Donor Management' system.

7) Will my donors receive a tax receipt after they use the text-to-give feature?

Yes! Your donors will receive a tax receipt immediately via e-mail, as with any standard donation.

8) Will new donors be added to my 'Donor Management'? Will existing donor contact records be updated?

Yes! Contact records will automatically be added for new donors to your 'Donor Management' system.

Existing donor records will be updated with any new donation(s) made through texting (as long as they use the same e-mail address to make their donation as what is listed in your system).

9) How do donors opt out of receiving texts?

Your contacts can unsubscribe from receiving text messages. They may do so by replying to one of your messages with the following phrases:

  • STOP

  • QUIT

  • STOP ALL

  • CANCEL

  • UNSUBSCRIBE
