How do I set up these texting capabilities in Donor Management?
You'll first need to request access to use these features - the quickest and easiest way to do so it directly through Donor Management.
You'll want to click on “Communication” from the left-hand menu, then select the option for “Text Messages” from the drop-down options.
You should then see the “Text Messages” landing page, with a banner alert across the top.
You'll then went to click on the red “click here” link within that message to begin the setup process. You'll then be redirected to your “Settings” page, where you can scroll down to the section labeled “Text Messaging Integration.”
You'll then want to click on the “Setup Text Messaging” button. The page should reload and display the “Twilio Setup and Registration” process, and will ask you to “Choose the type of messaging.”
You should have two options available - either a “toll-free” number, or a “local” number.
A toll-free number (such as a number that begins with 1-800, 1-888, etc.), you can verify and use that number for bulk text messaging options at no added cost to your organization, typically within the same day as registering.
A local number (such as a new number with a local area code, or an existing number), there will be a $200 registration fee included within this process. This option can take several weeks to process and verify the number, so this may not be the best option if you're working within time constraints.
When you're ready, you'll want to click “next.” You'll then be asked to fill out and verify some additional information about your organization, as well as confirm the number you'd like to use (for local numbers) in the following steps of the process.
Scroll down until you see the section called "Text-to-Give Settings".
Once you've completed those steps, you'll have a chance to review the information you've entered. If that all looks correct, you can submit the information for verification, and you should receive an email as soon as the number is ready to use!
