For organizations that utilize Bonterra Payments to process transactions within their Network for Good platform, donors can donate using their PayPal or Venmo accounts.
Once you have set up PayPal as a payment method by following the steps below, you should automatically see Venmo as an option for your donors to utilize, with no further setup required!
Note: If your organization uses Network for Good's Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) as a payment processor and would like to learn more about Bonterra Payments, click here.
Step 1: Navigate to 'Fundraising Pages'
From your 'Donor Management' Dashboard, click 'My Tools' in the top-right corner and select 'Fundraising Pages' from the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Manage your organization's 'Payment Profile'
When directed to 'Fundraising Pages', click the 'Settings' tab towards the top and select 'Payment Profile' from the drop-down menu.
Note: You will not have this option unless you use Bonterra Payments as a payment processor. To learn more about setting up Bonterra Payments, click here.
Step 3: Click 'Connect'
Click 'Connect' next to the PayPal logo on your 'Payment Gateway Profile' page to get started.
Step 4: Enter or confirm basic information about your organization
When the page reloads, you should be prompted to enter or confirm information about your organization (such as your address).
After carefully reviewing your information, click the 'Next' button in the upper right corner.
Step 5: Connect your PayPal account
When the page reloads, click the 'Connect PayPal Account' button. You should be redirected to PayPal's website, which will prompt you to use your existing PayPal credentials to log in.
Step 6: Grant permission to connect your PayPal account
Once logged into PayPal, click the 'Allow' button on the screen to grant the appropriate permissions to connect your PayPal account to Bonterra Payments.
Step 7: Provide contact information for donors using PayPal
You will be prompted to enter your organization's e-mail address and phone number. This information will provide a resource to those making donations through PayPal who might need further assistance or have questions.
Once you have entered that information, click 'Next'.
Step 8: Confirm your 'Active' status
A message will appear confirming your organization is approved to use PayPal. Click 'Return to [YOUR ORGANIZATION'S NAME]' to return to 'Fundraising Pages' within your Network for Good account.
Once PayPal has authorized the connection to Bonterra Payments, you should see an 'Active' status next to the PayPal option on your Payment Profile. This indicates your organization can receive donations through PayPal from your donors.
Enabling Venmo as a payment option
No additional setup is required to enable Venmo as a payment option.
PayPal owns Venmo, and both services are integrated into PayPal’s broader payment ecosystem. When you set up a PayPal account to accept donations, you automatically have access to both PayPal and Venmo, as Venmo is part of PayPal’s suite of services.
PayPal processes transactions for both PayPal and Venmo accounts. As a result, you do not need to perform separate configurations to accept Venmo payments.
