How do I convert refunded ticket purchases into donations?
How do I convert refunded ticket purchases into donations?
Updated over a week ago

Perhaps you hosted an event that ended up having to be cancelled - but instead of asking for their ticket purchases to be refunded, your participants would prefer to convert that "ticket" into a standard donation.

There's an easy way to convert that ticket purchase into a donation - we'll cover how in the steps below.

Step 1: Make sure the ticket purchase is marked as "refunded."

In order to make sure you aren't counting the donation twice - once as a ticket, and once as a donation - you'll need to ensure that you've marked the original ticket purchase as refunded.

If you haven't already done so, you can review step five in our guide here to appropriately mark those tickets as "refunded," and then return here to continue the conversion process.

Step 2: Click on the "Offline Donation" tab at the top of the screen.

Step 3: Click on the "Add Donation" button.

Step 4: Create an offline donation for the same participant and same amount as the initial ticket purchase.

By creating a new offline "donation" after refunding the ticket purchase for the same amount, you're effectively replacing it with that purchase.

Since the new, offline donation replaces the ticket purchase, there's no need to contact support to process a financial refund; in other words, the ticket was "refunded" and the participant made a "new" donation for the same amount.
