The Direct Admissions MN page in jmc Office gives you a clear snapshot of each student’s post-secondary opportunities by automatically identifying academic tiers and unweighted GPAs. With eligibility status at your fingertips, you can easily guide 11th and 12th graders toward the right college options and give families peace of mind knowing their students are on track. This makes it simple to support students and families with up-to-date college eligibility information.
To review student eligibility status, head to Grading > Transcripts > Direct Admissions MN in jmc Office.
Step One: Select Grades 11 & 12, Grade 11, or Grade 12 from the drop-down list to view students in that group along with their academic tiers and unweighted GPAs.
✨ Fun Fact: Academic tiers are automatically calculated based on a student’s unweighted cumulative GPA, providing accurate and consistent tiering for Direct Admissions files.
Step Two (optional): Click the Edit link next to a student’s name to manually override the calculated academic tier to better represent the student's college readiness.
Step Three: Select the appropriate option from the Academic Tier drop-down list, then click the Update link to save your changes or the Cancel link to discard them.
✨ Fun Fact: See (override) next to a student’s name? That’s your visual cue that the academic tier was manually updated instead of automatically calculated.
💡 Helpful Tip: To reverse a manual override, select Remove Override from the Academic Tier drop-down list to restore the automatically calculated tier.
Step Four (optional): Click the Create Direct Admissions File button to override the weekly automatic submission and send updated Direct Admissions data using the most recent student information.
✨ Fun Fact: Through jmc’s automated Direct Admissions process, a file of eligible 12th graders is securely sent to the Minnesota Office of Higher Education (MOHE). MOHE then invites those students to complete a college selection survey, giving them the opportunity to indicate which schools they’re most interested in.
Step Five (optional): Click the Opted Out Students button to see a list of students who have chosen not to participate in the Direct Admissions Minnesota program.
💡 Helpful Tip: Remove students who are not on track to graduate or who have chosen to opt out by going to the View Student Data page and removing the checkmark from the Direct Admissions checkbox on the student’s General tab.
✅ jmc automatically sends Direct Admissions data each week, keeping eligibility information current without extra effort.
