Learn how to add a salary sacrifice in a pay run with Payroller with our simple guide below.

Salary sacrifice is an amount that an employee has chosen to sacrifice from their gross earnings to go into their superannuation.Salary Sacrifice for Super allows employees to contribute a portion of their pre-tax income toward superannuation. This method helps ensure compliance with payroll obligations while facilitating employee benefits.

Salary sacrifice on Payroller is only available as a pre-tax salary sacrifice.

Post-tax salary sacrifice is currently unavailable, if you would like to see this feature please vote for the feature on our feature request board.

Step 1: Click '+ New Pay Run’.

Step 2: Select the desired Pay Run Period, Pay Period Ending, and Payment Date then select ‘Create’.Alternatively, you may see the option to select <i>Let's Start</i> instead of <i>Create</i> depending on the user interface displayed.

Step 3: In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click on Superannuation’.Alternatively, some users may click on the superannuation amount highlighted in blue for the relevant employee.

Step 4: Click the Super Salary Sacrifice box and enter the amount.To ensure accuracy, add the same amount under Ordinary Hours or Bonus/Commission for accurate gross income calculations and Salary Sacrifice recording.

Step 5: If you're satisfied with the amount, clickSave & Close’.

Step 6: Click on ‘Review’.

Step 7: Check the figures, and when you're happy, click 'Save'.

Step 8: Submit the STP.

Once you have completed your pay run, Salary Sacrifice should now show on the employee payslip.Errors in recording Salary Sacrifice can impact gross income calculations and compliance. Always verify amounts and ensure prompt submissions to meet payroll obligations.

If you have a recurring salary sacrifice amount you can add this in the templates section of the employee card.If adjustments are necessary, you may also modify or remove Salary Sacrifice amounts by accessing previous pay runs and updating the fields as needed.
