My strength fluctuates a lot
Updated over 9 months ago

Have you noticed that your pelvic floor strength fluctuates during your Perifit training sessions? It can be frustrating when you're aiming for consistency but find that your strength varies, making it challenging to achieve your training goals.

Cause

The strength of your pelvic floor is likely to vary across training sessions. It is normal and expected, and should not worry you too much. Just like any muscle, your pelvic floor muscles are impacted by various factors:

  • Pelvic floor fatigue, which occurs when the muscles become tired from overtraining or insufficient rest.

  • General fatigue, influenced by factors such as time of day and overall physical exertion.

  • Your period: We have a significant drop in hormones during this time and it affects the pelvic floor and its tissues.

But it can also be due to:

  • Movement of the probe inside the vagina, leading to changes in sensor placement.

Solution

To manage and improve the consistency of your pelvic floor strength, consider the following strategies:

  • Readjust the position of the probe to ensure the sensors are in the right position. If you have a Perifit Care+, use the silicone ring provided with it to ensure the probe stays in place, or contact us so we can send you one.

  • Recalibrate. Pelvic muscles fatigue quickly, which is why we recommend recalibrating regularly throughout your session so that the games remain doable and adapted to your strength of the moment.

  • Take regular breaks between training sessions to allow your pelvic floor muscles adequate time to rest and recover.

  • Pay attention to your body's signals and avoid overexertion during training. Focus on maintaining proper technique and control with each contraction.

  • Experiment with different training positions to find what works best for you. Some users may find that training while lying down or on their side yields more consistent strength readings.

Remember, achieving and maintaining pelvic floor strength is a journey that requires patience and consistency. By implementing these strategies and listening to your body's needs, you can effectively manage fluctuations in strength and work towards your pelvic floor health goals with confidence.
