A WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) is essential for using WhatsApp for your business and sending automated messages via the WhatsApp API. Follow this guide to create your WABA.
1. Create a Meta Business Manager account (if you don’t have one yet)
To set up a WABA, you need a Meta Business Manager account. If you don’t have one yet:
Go to the Meta Business Manager page.
Click "Create Account."
Enter your business name, email address, and other details.
Confirm your email address via the link Meta sends you.
2. Create a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) in Meta Business Manager
Open Meta Business Manager.
Go to Business Settings > WhatsApp Accounts.
Click "Add Account" or "Create a new WhatsApp Business Account."
Enter your business details (name, industry, location).
Choose whether you will manage the WABA yourself or through a partner.
Accept the terms of service and confirm the setup.
3. Verify a phone number for WABA
Once your WABA is created, you need to link a valid phone number.
Choose a number that is not already linked to another WhatsApp account.
Verify the number using the verification code sent via SMS or phone call.
💡 This number will be used to send WhatsApp messages and should be reserved exclusively for WABA.
4. Link and manage WABA in Meta Business Manager
After verification, your WABA will appear in Meta Business Manager.
You can add administrators, set up payment methods, and manage messaging settings.
If you want to use WhatsApp messaging flows, you need to connect your WABA to a platform like Perspective.

5. Optional: Apply for WhatsApp Business API
If you want to send automated messages and run large-scale campaigns:
Navigate to WhatsApp Business API in Meta Business Manager.
Follow the business verification steps (this may take a few days).
Once approved, you can create message templates and set up your API connection.
Once you’ve completed these steps, your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) is fully set up and ready for business communication.
If you want to send automated messages with Perspective, connect your WABA to your Perspective account (step-by-step guide here). 🚀
