Meta may block a WhatsApp Business account if violations of WhatsApp policies or unusual activity are detected. The suspension can be temporary or permanent. If your account has been blocked, there are several ways to restore access.

Why was my WhatsApp account blocked?

Meta may block accounts for various reasons, including:

  • Violations of WhatsApp Business policies (e.g., sending unauthorized content or spam).

  • Unusually high message volume, which may be flagged as suspicious.

  • Negative user reactions, such as frequent blocks or spam reports.

  • Unverified or falsified business information.

If your account has been blocked, you will typically receive a notification via email or in the WhatsApp Business Manager, specifying the reason.

How can I appeal the account suspension?

If you believe the suspension was a mistake, you can appeal it by following these steps:

  1. Check Meta’s email notification

    • If your account is blocked, Meta will send you an email notification with a link to the appeal page.

    • Click on the link and follow the instructions to request a review and appeal the suspension.

  2. Use the WhatsApp Manager in the Meta Business Portfolio Manager

    • Open the WhatsApp Manager and check your account status.

    • If your account was mistakenly blocked, you can submit an appeal there.

How can I prevent my account from being blocked in the future?

To avoid future suspensions, you should:

  • Only message users who have explicitly opted in (it’s best to communicate this directly in the funnel so leads are aware they will be contacted via WhatsApp) to prevent spam complaints.
