Understanding the Event Detail Screen

What you'll find on an event's detail screen as a member, including the cover image, description, attachments, livestream link, groups pill, map, and the pinned respond bar.

Tapping an event card or a notification opens the event detail screen, a single scrolling page with everything you need to decide how to respond.

What you'll see

  • A cover image at the top, or a gradient placeholder if the admin hasn't set one

  • Event name, type, date, time, and location, with a map and a Directions chip that opens your device's maps app

  • A groups pill showing how many groups the event is shared with, tap it to see which ones

  • A comments pill, if the admin has allowed comments on this event

  • A description, shown in full with no truncation, if one was set

  • An attachment, such as a team sheet or info PDF, tap it to open it in your device's native viewer

  • A livestream link, if one was set, tap it to open it in your browser or the relevant app

Note: Any section that wasn't configured, description, attachment, or livestream, simply doesn't render. You won't see empty placeholders.

The respond bar

A respond bar is pinned to the bottom of the screen throughout scrolling, showing your current response and, if there's a fee, when you'll be charged for it. It's how you take action on this event, see How to Respond to an Event. For the full breakdown of fee timing, see How and When You're Charged for an Event.

Note: The respond bar only appears if you're in a group the event was shared with. If you're viewing an event you're not invited to, you'll see all the content but no way to respond.

FAQ

Why can't I open the attachment?

If it's been removed from the server since the event was set up, you'll see "Unable to open attachment. Please try again."

What if the livestream link doesn't work?

That's between you and the link itself, PLAI just opens it in your browser or the relevant app, it doesn't check that the link is live.

The event I tapped says it's no longer available. What happened?

This means the admin deleted or cancelled it after you opened the notification or list. It's not an error on your end.

Can I edit or remove an attachment?

No, attachments are for your reference only. Only admins can add or remove them.
