Overview
When a unit is ready to market, activate it in RentEngine so it can syndicate to listing sites and accept showing requests.
This guide applies to accounts with a connected PMS in Company settings.
Before you begin
Your PMS must be connected in RentEngine
The unit must be marked available in your PMS
The unit must be set to Post to Website (or equivalent) in your PMS
Note: Do not use Post to Internet (or syndicate to Zillow, etc.) in your PMS
Step 1 — Find the new property in RentEngine
Wait 10 minutes for the new property to sync in to RentEngine from your PMS
Go to the Properties tab
Look at the top of the list for properties marked "Incomplete"
These are units RentEngine detected as ready to activate.
Step 2 — Start the activation flow
Select the property
Click Take action → Edit property
This opens the editing flow.
Step 3 — Review property details
Confirm the property details imported from your PMS are correct.
Also add/edit the:
Floor number
Amenities
Owner email address and report settings
Linked multifamily property (more info here)
Click Next to continue activating the property.
Note: Learn more about how data syncs from your PMS here
Activation complete
Once the flow is finished:
The vacancy becomes Available
Marketing turns on automatically (allow up to 24 hours)
RentEngine begins responding to leads
Showings can be scheduled based on your settings
You’ll see a confirmation message indicating the property is ready to market.
Troubleshooting
I don’t see the unit in RentEngine
Confirm the unit is marked available in your PMS
Confirm Publish to website is enabled
Allow up to 10 minutes for the import
Filter by Archived in the Properties tab and click Take Action > Unarchive to move it back to "Incomplete" status
Best practices
Activate vacancies as soon as they’re ready
Avoid editing price, photos, marketing description directly in RentEngine
