Overview
Certain SkinDrop brands have Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policies set by the manufacturer. These policies set a floor on how low a product can be advertised or promoted, including inside your RepeatMD storefront.
MAP rules apply to in-app discounts only. You can still sell MAP-protected products at their listed price. You cannot add them to percentage off, dollar off, complimentary, or Buy X Get Y promotions in the Admin Panel.
This article is for practice owners, managers, and marketing admins who run promotions that include SkinDrop retail products.
Before You Start
You need Administrator or Manager access to create and edit promotions.
MAP restrictions appear when you select products for in-app discounts in MedCommerce Engine → Promotions, Automated Offers, Rewards, Memberships, and Sitewide Promotions.
Only the 7 brands listed below are currently MAP-protected in RepeatMD. Other SkinDrop brands may still be eligible for in-app promotions.
MAP rules apply to products selected as discounted items and as qualifying purchase items in Buy X Get Y promotions.
Why It Matters
MAP compliance helps you:
Keep selling premium SkinDrop brands without risking access to those product lines.
Avoid blocked saves when building promotions that include restricted products.
Plan promotions around eligible products instead of discovering restrictions at setup time.
How It Works
What MAP means: Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) is a brand policy that sets a floor on how low a product can be advertised or promoted. For affected SkinDrop brands, those products cannot be discounted inside your RepeatMD app, even if your practice could run a similar promotion in-office through other channels.
Which brands are affected: The following 7 SkinDrop brands are currently subject to MAP restrictions in RepeatMD:
DefenAge
ISDIN
Pavise
plated
Rationale
Revision Skincare
SkinCeuticals
RepeatMD manages this list based on brand policy requirements. If additional brands are added, they will appear as unavailable when selecting products for discount.
What you can do:
Sell these brands in your Shop at their normal listed price.
Include non-MAP SkinDrop brands in eligible in-app promotions (where other discount rules allow).
Promote your Shop generally, but not with an in-app discount on MAP-protected products.
What you cannot do: Add MAP-protected SkinDrop products to any in-app discount, including:
Percentage off
Dollar amount off
Complimentary or free item
Buy X Get Y (as either the discounted item or the qualifying purchase item)
Where you see restrictions. When building a promotion and selecting products or services to discount, MAP-protected SkinDrop products appear greyed out and cannot be selected. Hover over a greyed-out product to see a message like: “This product cannot be discounted due to SkinCeuticals’s MAP policy.”
This applies in:
Area in Admin | What it affects |
MedCommerce Engine → Promotions | Campaign offers and standalone offers |
Automated Offers | Behavior-triggered promotional offers |
Rewards | In-app discount and free-item reward settings |
Memberships | Membership benefit discounts |
Sitewide Promotions | Storewide promotional discounts (if enabled) |
Build promotions around MAP products: Three compliant approaches:
Discount eligible products instead. Build your offer around services, memberships, or SkinDrop brands that are not MAP-protected.
Feature MAP-protected products without discounting them. Use a Campaign content card, banner, or custom Shop category to highlight retail products at full price, then pair that with a separate discount on eligible services or treatments.
Promote the Shop, not the product price. Send a text message or in-app message encouraging patients to browse your Shop without attaching an in-app discount to MAP-protected items.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Fix an existing promotion that includes a MAP-protected product
Log in to your Admin Panel.
Open the promotion in MedCommerce Engine → Promotions, Automated Offers, Rewards, Memberships, or Sitewide Promotions.
Go to the discount or product inclusion settings.
Remove any greyed-out or MAP-protected SkinDrop products.
Save or republish the promotion.
If you are unsure whether a product is affected, look for the greyed-out state and MAP policy tooltip in the product selector.
Best Practices and Pro Tips
Check product pickers before you publish. Greyed-out products indicate MAP restrictions before you save.
Pair retail highlights with service discounts. Feature MAP brands at full price and discount eligible treatments or non-MAP products.
Review promotions before seasonal sales. Done-For-You Promos and sitewide promotions are common places MAP conflicts appear.
Common Mistakes and FAQs
Q: Can I discount MAP-protected products in-office instead of in the app?
A: MAP rules in RepeatMD apply to in-app promotions and discounts. How you price products during an in-office visit may be subject to separate brand or vendor policies outside of RepeatMD.
Q: Can I still sell SkinCeuticals or other MAP brands in my Shop?
A: Yes. Patients can purchase these products at the listed price. The restriction applies only to in-app discounting.
Q: Why are some SkinDrop products discountable and others are not?
A: Only the brands listed above are MAP-protected. Other SkinDrop brands may still be eligible for in-app promotions, depending on the discount type and where you configure it.
Q: Does MAP apply to services and treatments?
A: No. MAP restrictions apply to SkinDrop retail products from the affected brands, not to your services or treatments.
Q: What if I try to save a promotion with a MAP-protected product?
A: RepeatMD blocks the save and shows an error explaining which brand’s MAP policy applies. Remove the affected product(s) and save again.
Q: Will this list of brands change?
A: Possibly. RepeatMD updates MAP-protected brands based on policy requirements. Changes appear automatically in your Admin product pickers.
