Retention.com identifies visitors on your site and sends them to your email platform automatically. These contacts didn't fill out a form — they visited your site and were matched through identity resolution.
That means how you email them matters. They need to be treated differently from your regular subscribers.
The two strategies
There are two ways to email your contacts. The right one depends on how often you already send.
Option A — Dedicated Flow
Best if you send fewer than 3 campaigns a week. Every contact gets the same short automated sequence starting within 30 minutes of being identified.
Option B — Blended
Best if you already send 3 or more campaigns a week. Contacts are folded into your existing sends — no extra setup needed.

Rules that apply to both
Send quickly — contacts are freshest right after identification. Don't let them sit.
Don't use welcome language — they didn't sign up through a form. Skip "thanks for subscribing" and "welcome to the family."
Send consistently — gaps in cadence kill performance. Your sending frequency drives results.
Stop after 3 emails with no engagement — don't keep emailing contacts who aren't responding.
Never send to Cold [Retention] — this segment exists to protect your deliverability. Always exclude it.
