How to activate shipping carriers in Returbo

To use returns in Returbo, you need to activate at least one shipping carrier. This guide shows you how to activate carriers and configure how they are used.

Before you start

Before activating a carrier, make sure you have the required credentials.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Read this guide first: Preparation before onboarding

Step 1: Go to carrier settings

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click Integrations

  3. Open the Shipping tab

๐Ÿ‘‰ Here you can view and activate the carriers available in your Returbo account

Step 2: Activate a carrier

  1. Select the carrier you want to activate

  2. Click Start

  3. Enter the required credentials

  4. Click Activate when done with information field.

Press "Start" on selected carrier and click "Activate carrier" after filling in credentials.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Each carrier requires different credentials (see preparation guide)

๐Ÿ‘‰ See Step 5 to configure markets and services for each carrier

Step 3: Enable return automation

After activating a carrier, scroll to the top of the page and you will see two new blocks, Automatic return tracking and Autogenerated return shipping slips.

Automatic return tracking

When this is enabled, Returbo automatically tracks the return using a tracking link and marks it as received once the shipment is delivered to your warehouse.

This means:

  • You do not need to manually update return statuses

  • Your return flow becomes fully automated

  • Customers are updated faster

๐Ÿ‘‰ Available on Plus, Premium, and Enterprise plans
๐Ÿ‘‰ Recommended: Enable this to reduce manual work

Autogenerated return shipping slips

This setting controls how return shipping slips are created.

If enabled, Returbo will automatically generate a return shipping slip when a shipping slip is created in your return or exchange flow.

This setting is independent of whether your return flow is manual or automatic.
๐Ÿ‘‰ See guide: Reviewing and pre-approving return requests

The difference is that Returbo generates the shipping slip automatically instead of you doing it manually. See example below (Manual setting in Reviewing and pre-approving return requests).

You select which carrier to use before generating the return shipping slip.

โ€‹The shipping slip is automatically selected and generated based on your carrier setup. No manual action is required.

Step 4: Set carrier priority (ranking)

When Autogenerated return shipping slips are enabled you can choose the order in which carriers are used.

This controls which carrier is used first.

Example:

  • 1 โ†’ PostNord Varubrev

  • 2 โ†’ PostNord Return Drop-off

๐Ÿ‘‰ If a shipment does not match the rules of the first carrier (for example weight or destination country), Returbo will automatically use the next carrier in the ranking.

โ€‹Set the priority order for your carriers. The top carrier is used first. If it does not match the shipment requirements, the next carrier will be used.

Step 5: Configure markets per carrier

Inside each carrier, you can select which markets (countries) should be used. See section "Markets you accept returns from (optional)". This can be configured per service type.

Important

If your carrier has multiple services (for example UPS Standard, Express, etc.), make sure you select the correct service when assigning markets.

Each service can have different countries assigned to it.

๐Ÿ‘‰ If the wrong service is selected, the wrong shipping option may be used when generating return shipping slips.

๐Ÿ’ก Why this matters

This setup ensures that the correct carrier and service is used based on the customerโ€™s location.

Important setup notes

  • The number of carriers you can activate depends on your price plan

  • Incorrect credentials will prevent activation

  • Make sure your carrier agreement supports returns
