Import reviews with the Sternify CSV template

Prepare a review file, match the right Shopify products, and fix common CSV errors.

Written by Alex

Move reviews from a spreadsheet into Sternify using Custom Sternify file. You’ll prepare the template, check the import preview, then confirm. Requires Pro.

Moving from Yotpo, Okendo, Shopify Reviews, Stamped, Reviews.io, Junip, or another app without an available importer? Copy your export into the Sternify template. Uploading the other app’s original CSV here will not map its columns automatically. Use the dedicated importers for Judge.me and Loox.

1. Prepare the CSV

  1. Open Reviews → Import Reviews → Custom Sternify file and open the template link.

  2. Make a copy, remove the example rows, and enter your reviews. Keep all seven required headings below.

  3. Export the sheet as a CSV. Keep your original file as a backup.

product_id
The Shopify product ID in this store—not a handle, title, SKU, variant ID, or another store’s ID. Leave empty only for a store review.

name, email
The reviewer’s original details, where available. Keep the headings even if a value is empty.

rating
A number from 1 to 5.

title, content
The original headline and written review. Review content is required.

date
An unambiguous date, such as 2026-09-15.

For photos or videos, add an optional media column containing public URLs. Separate multiple URLs with commas and let your spreadsheet handle CSV quoting.

Make a copy of the Sternify template or download it as a CSV before adding your review data.

2. Preview and import

  1. Upload the CSV and check the analysis and sample review.

  2. Choose Confirm Import, then check the successful and failed counts.

  3. Open Manage reviews and check the product, text, rating, date, and media on a few imported records.

Before confirming: custom CSV reviews are published by default and receive a verified flag. Importing does not independently verify a purchase. If that badge would misrepresent the review, contact support before importing.

If rows fail

Use the failed-row report to correct exact header names, destination product IDs, dates, ratings, or missing review text. Retry only the failed rows.

Done: the reviews appear in Manage reviews with the correct product assignment. To show them to shoppers, add a review widget.
