Why does the review editor show example reviews instead of my reviews?

Understand the difference between widget design previews, your saved reviews, and what shoppers see.

The review widget’s customization preview uses example reviews to demonstrate the design. Its names, images, ratings, and counts do not represent your imported reviews. Seeing examples here does not mean the import failed.

1. Find the saved review

  1. Open Reviews → Manage reviews. Clear filters and find a review you expected.

  2. Check its publication status and assigned product. A store review is different from a product review.

  3. If an imported review is absent, check the import summary and failed-row report before importing again.

2. Check the actual product page

  1. Save your widget design and add the widget to the product’s theme template.

  2. Open that product on the storefront, or preview the same draft theme if you edited a draft.

  3. Compare the display with published reviews for that product. Check any setting that intentionally includes reviews from other products.

The app’s total can include other products, store reviews, and unpublished records, so it need not match one product page.

Still missing on the actual page? Use the review visibility guide to check the block, template, and product assignment.
