How to Use Faster Home Improvement Adders?

Why is it important?

Home Improvement jobs often need big adder quantities, such as square footage of flooring or linear feet of gutter. Before, reps had to press the plus button once for every unit. Now you can type the exact quantity into the adder’s quantity box.

Typing the quantity saves clicks on large jobs, cuts counting mistakes, and gets the proposal total right sooner. The adder total, the group summary, and the proposal pricing all update from the number you enter.

What will you need?

  • A Home Improvement proposal (created through the new proposal flow).

  • At least one adder available on the proposal’s “Adders” tab.

  • The quantity you want to apply for each adder (for example, 200).

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Open your Home Improvement proposal and click the “Adders” tab. Adders are grouped by category, and each group header shows how many adders are added and their total quantity.

Step 2: Find the adder you need. If its card says “Tap to add”, click the card to add it to the proposal. Added adders show a checkmark and a “Qty” box with “–” and “+” buttons.

Step 3: Click the number in the “Qty” box. It becomes an editable field. Type the quantity you need (for example, 200). You no longer need to press “+” over and over.

Step 4: Click anywhere outside the box to apply the quantity. The adder’s line total recalculates (quantity × unit price), and the group header updates its total and the “items · total qty” summary.

Step 5: Open the “Pricing” tab to check that the adders total and contract amount include the new quantity.

Real Life Scenario

A rep is quoting a gutter replacement on a two-story home that needs 200 linear feet of new gutter. Before, they would have pressed “+” 200 times on the gutter adder. Now they open the “Adders” tab, click the quantity box, type 200, and click away.

The adder total and group summary update right away. The rep checks the “Pricing” tab to confirm the new contract amount, then sends the proposal without having miscounted any clicks.

Pro Tip

Type big quantities straight into the “Qty” box, then use “–” and “+” for one-unit adjustments.

Troubleshooting

Problem: There is no quantity box on the adder.

The adder hasn’t been added yet. Click the card marked “Tap to add”. Once it shows a checkmark, the “Qty” box appears.

Problem: I typed a number but the total didn’t change.

Click outside the “Qty” box so the new value is applied. The line total and group summary should then update.

Problem: The “Pricing” tab doesn’t show the new adder total.

Go back to the “Adders” tab and check that the quantity stayed. Then reopen the “Pricing” tab. If it still doesn’t match, refresh the proposal and contact your Customer Experience Manager (CXM).
