How to Use the Refreshed Battery, Water Purification, and Home Improvement Proposal UI?

Why is it important?

Creating a Battery, Water Purification, or Home Improvement proposal now follows the same refreshed, step-by-step wizard as the rest of SubcontractorHub. A progress bar at the top marks each finished step with a green check and highlights where you are, so reps always know what is left to do.

Each job type keeps the steps it needs, such as battery equipment and consumption, a public water quality report, or prebuilt Home Improvement packages. The shared steps look the same no matter which job type you pick. The refreshed design works on desktop, tablet, and mobile.

What will you need?

  • Access to create proposals in SubcontractorHub.

  • The customer’s service address.

  • An installer available for the job type you’re quoting.

  • For Water Purification and Home Improvement: packages set up under “Manage Database” for that job type (up to 3 load per proposal).

  • For Battery: the battery equipment you plan to quote and the customer’s energy consumption (monthly kWh or an 8760 profile).

Step by Step Instructions

Battery Only

Step 1: Click to create a new proposal, select “Battery Only” as the job type, and click “Save & continue”.

Step 2: Confirm the service address. Click “Edit” if you need to change it.

Step 3: Select the installer for the job.

Step 4: On the “Equipment” step, choose the “Primary battery type” and set its quantity with “–” and “+”. If your organization has secondary batteries turned on, choose a “Secondary battery type” too. Under “Battery configuration”, pick “Backup” or “Non-backup” and adjust the “Backup percentage”. Then click “Next”.

Step 5: Continue through the “Adders”, “Site”, and “Utility & Rates” steps, clicking “Next” after each one.

Step 6: On the “Consumption” step, enter the customer’s usage as “Monthly”, “Monthly avg”, or “Annual” values in “$” or “kWh”, or click “Import 8760 profile”. Use “Reset” to start over. Click “Finish proposal”.

Step 7: The proposal page opens. The “Equipment” tab shows the primary and secondary batteries you picked and their configuration.

Step 8: Open the “Utility” tab to review “Utility & Rates” and “Consumption”.

Water Purification

Step 1: Click to create a new proposal, select “Water Purification” as the job type, and click “Save & continue”.

Step 2: Confirm the service address (same screen as the Battery flow above), then select your installer.

Step 3: On the “Water report” step, click “Look up water report” to pull public water quality data for the address. To skip it, click “Continue without report”.

Step 4: Choose the water utility that supplies the home from the list, then click “View report”. If the address is wrong, click “Edit” on the “Service Address” card to change it.

Step 5: Review the report, including any contaminants that exceed health guidelines, then click “Save report”.

Step 6: On the “Package” step, choose a package by clicking “Select”, then click “Save package”. Use “Delete” to remove a package from the proposal or “Add package” to bring one back.

Step 7: On the “Adders” step, set each adder’s quantity with “–” and “+”. Then click “Finish proposal”.

Step 8: The proposal opens on the “Pricing” tab. Use the “Water Report”, “Packages”, “Adders”, “Discounts”, “Details”, and “Activity” tabs to review or adjust the proposal.

Home Improvement

Step 1: Click to create a new proposal and select “Home Improvement” as the job type. Under “Sub job types”, pick the type of work (or leave it at “--None--”), then click “Save & continue”.

Step 2: Confirm the service address and select your installer (same screens as the Battery flow above).

Step 3: On the “Package” step, the packages from “Manage Database” > “Home Improvement” > “Packages” load (up to 3). Each card lists its products, adders, item count, and total. Click “Select” on the package you want, then click “Create proposal”.

Step 4: The proposal page opens with the selected package. Use the “Packages” and “Adders” tabs to review or change the package and adder details.

Real Life Scenario

A rep with a full afternoon of appointments quotes three different jobs: a backup battery, a whole-home water filter, and a kitchen remodel. Each quote starts the same way: pick the job type, confirm the address, choose the installer.

For the battery, the rep picks the primary battery and backup settings and then enters the homeowner’s monthly kWh. For the water filter, they pull the water report for the address, show the homeowner which contaminants exceed guidelines, and choose a package. For the remodel, they pick “Kitchen Remodeling” as the package. The progress bar shows what is left at every step, so none of the three quotes misses a step.

Pro Tip

On the Water Purification “Water report” step, walk the homeowner through the contaminants that exceed health guidelines before you click “Save report”. It makes the package you recommend next much easier to explain.

Troubleshooting

Problem: The water report says “No water data for this address”.

Check the address with “Edit” on the “Service Address” card and click “Try again”. If no data is available, click “Continue without report” and finish the proposal.

Problem: I don’t see a secondary battery option on the “Equipment” step.

The secondary battery only appears when that setting is turned on for your organization. Ask your admin or Customer Experience Manager (CXM).

Problem: No packages appear on the Water Purification or Home Improvement “Package” step.

Packages load from “Manage Database” for that job type. Ask your admin to add packages there, or use “Add package” to bring back a package that was removed.

Problem: I need to change something from an earlier step.

Click “Prev” (or “Back”) to return to the earlier step, make your change, and continue.
