How to Build a Home Improvement Proposal?

Why Does It Matter?

Creating a home improvement proposal allows you to capture the customer's information, define the project scope, and add the necessary details. Depending on the selected scope, you can add adders, discounts, financing, and, for gutter projects, create a gutter design.

What You'll Need

  • Access to the SubcontractorHub platform.

  • Customer information, including name, address, email, and phone number.

  • The project scope and relevant details.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Start a New Customer

  • Go to "Customers" and click "New Customer".

Step 2: Enter Customer and Job Details

  • Enter the customer's address, name, email, phone number, and select "Home Improvement" as the job type.

Step 3: Select the Project Scope

  • Select the appropriate scope, either "Gutter" or "Others".

Step 4: Create the Customer

  • Click "Create Customer" to create the customer and project.

Step 5: Open the Customer Details

  • Click "View Detail" to open the customer's project details.

If You Select "Others"

Step 6: Add Project Adders

  • Go to the "Adders" section.

  • Select the adders required for the project.

  • You can also add a custom adder when needed.

Step 7: Add a Discount

  • Go to the "Discount" section.

  • Add the applicable discount.

  • You can also create a custom discount if required.

Step 8: Go to Financing

  • Navigate to the "Financing" section to select the appropriate financing option for the project.

If You Select "Gutter"

Step 6: Create a Gutter Design

  • Select the option to create a design for the project.

Step 7: Position the Crosshairs

  • Place the crosshairs over the center of the house. Click "Confirm".

Step 8: Turn On Edit Mode

  • Click the "Edit" toggle to enable editing.

Step 9: Add the Gutter

  • Add the required gutter to the design.

Step 10: Complete the Design

  • Click "Done".

Step 11: Exit Full-Screen Mode

  • Click "Exit Full Screen" to return to the project view.

Step 12: Turn Off Edit Mode

  • Turn off the "Edit" toggle.

Step 13: Save the Design

  • Click "Save" to save the gutter design.

  • The gutter details will appear above the design.

Step 14: Add Project Adders

  • Go to the "Adders" section.

  • Select the adders required for the project.

  • You can also add custom adders when needed.

Step 15: Add a Discount

  • Add the applicable discount.

  • You can also create a custom discount if required.

Step 16: Go to Financing

  • Navigate to the "Financing" section to select the appropriate financing option.

Pro Tip

For gutter projects, complete the design before adding pricing details. This ensures the gutter information is available when you move on to adders, discounts, and financing.

Real-World Example

A roofing contractor receives a request for a new gutter project. The sales rep creates the homeowner as a "Home Improvement" customer, selects "Gutter" as the scope, creates the gutter design, and saves it. They can then add project-specific adders and discounts before selecting a financing option, all within the same project.

Solution

"Home Improvement" is not available as a job type

Confirm that you are creating the customer through the "Customers" section and have the required access.

The proposal scope is incorrect

Review the selected scope before clicking "Create Customer".

Gutter details are not appearing

Make sure the design has been completed, the "Edit" toggle is turned off, and you clicked "Save".

You cannot find adders or discounts

Open the relevant "Adders" or "Discount" section from the project details.

Financing options are not appearing

Check the project's financing configuration and available financing options for the selected project.
