Preparing TalkingPoints Attendance for the End of the School Year

What Attendance partners need to know at year-end: stopping automated absence messages, what happens to your data over the summer, and how to prepare for summer school or back-to-school.

Updated this week

If your district uses TalkingPoints Attendance, here’s what to know and do as the school year ends.

Option A — Let messages run through the last day of school.

If your SIS is sending attendance data through the final day, messages will continue to send. No action needed.

Option B — Stop messages before the last day.

If you’d like automated messages to stop before your last day (for example, if attendance stops being taken during finals or field day weeks), you can disable automated messages in your TalkingPoints settings.

What Happens to Attendance Data Over the Summer?

  • Historical attendance records are saved and accessible after the school year ends

  • Automated message settings carry over to SY 26–27, though new features ahead of Back to School 26-27 may warrant another look at your set up.

  • Automated attendance reason mappings carry over
