How to use @mentions / tag people and companies in posts

How to tag people and company pages in your Taplio posts.

Mentions let you tag a person or a company with a link to their profile. This adds context to your post and draws the tagged person or company into the conversation.

To mention people or a company in Taplio, follow these steps.

Step 1: Find the profile or company URL

Open the person's LinkedIn profile and copy the last part of the URL (the part after in/). For example, in linkedin.com/in/nebojsa-marovic, it's nebojsa-marovic.

Note: the same process works for company pages, but view the company page as a member. If you view it with admin access, the URL shows numbers instead of the name.

Step 2: Write it in Taplio using @

Mentioning people

In the composer (Write a Post), type @ followed by the username from the profile URL.

For example:

If it works, the name turns into blue text, as shown below.

Mentioning a company

To tag a company, open the company page on LinkedIn and copy the last part of the URL.

For example, here's a company page URL:

To tag this company in a post, type @company_growing-company-gc.

Note: a personal account can sometimes have the same name as a company page. Use @company_URLname, otherwise the personal account is tagged by default.

You can check how the mention will look using Preview mode in the composer.

Posts with mentions are published through the Taplio Connect extension, so make sure it's installed and connected.

Why did my mention publish as plain text?

If a mentioned name or company appears as plain text instead of a clickable link after publishing, it's usually because of LinkedIn privacy settings:

  • Mention permissions: LinkedIn members can turn off mentions or limit who can tag them. If an account restricts tagging, LinkedIn shows the mention as plain text.

  • Mention removal: tagged members can also remove the mention after the post is published.
