Teach 'n Go can add tax to your invoices and receipts in three ways: automatically on every payment, automatically with prices that already include tax, or manually on a single invoice or receipt. Automatic tax is set up once in your school settings; manual tax is added while you record a payment or create an invoice.
Your school may use different names for students, teachers and classes. If you don't see the menu items below, ask your admin to check your permissions.
Setting up automatic tax
Go to School settings → Receipts & invoices.
Open the Tax settings section.
Choose the tax type shown on your documents — VAT, GST or BTW.
Enter the Tax percentage and tick Auto-apply tax to all payments.
From then on, every payment you record and every invoice you create shows the tax as its own line, with the amount before tax and the tax listed separately.
Prices before tax vs. prices including tax
With automatic tax switched on, the setting Entered prices include tax decides what the fee amounts you type mean. Check it matches how you price your courses before you start entering fees.
Off (default) — the amount you enter is before tax, and the tax is added on top. A 100.00 fee with 17% tax collects 117.00 from the student
On — the amount you enter is the final price, and the tax inside it is shown separately. A 100.00 fee with 17% tax collects 100.00, shown as 85.47 plus 14.53 tax
Changing this setting does not recalculate fees you have already entered. If you have been entering final prices while the setting was off, contact us before switching it on and we will correct the existing amounts for you.
Adding tax to a single invoice or receipt
If you don't use automatic tax, you can still add tax while recording a payment or creating an invoice.
Open the student's profile and click Add payment or Add invoice.
Select the fees to include, then open the Add tax panel.
Enter the tax as a Percent of the subtotal or as a fixed Amount, and apply it.
The tax is added on top of the subtotal and appears as its own line on the finished document.
