Rules Official Request via Mobile App (Manager Instructions)

This feature allows players, volunteers, and other officials to request assistance from a Rules Official directly through the Golf Genius mobile app, streamlining on-course assistance. Rules Official Requests can be used in conjunction with:

In this article, we will discuss accessing the Rules Official dashboard, creating Rules Officials, scheduling Rules Officials, and how to request Rules Officials with the mobile app.

Initial Setup to Prepare to Use Rules Officials:

Before you use Rules Officials, you must take care of a few things.

Accessing Rules Officials Dashboard:

To access the Rules Official dashboard, go to Event/League > Manage Rules Officials (as shown below).


On this dashboard, you will have two tabs:

  • Rules Officials: This tab lists the available Rules Officials and allows managers to manually add new officials, import them from the Customer Contact List, and edit or delete existing officials.

  • Schedule: This tab illustrates the assignment (i.e., whether a round is assigned or not) for each Rules Official. Managers can use this tab to assign Rules Officials to specific rounds within the event.

Rules Official Tab (Adding Rules Officials)

To add Rules Officials, first navigate to the Manage Rules Official dashboard (Event/League > Manage Rules Officials). Then rules officials can be added using one of the following methods:

  1. Manually:

    1. Click the "Add Rules Officials" button.

    2. In the pop-up window, enter the following information for each official (as shown below):

      1. Last Name

      2. First Name

      3. Cell Phone Number

    3. Click "Save Roster" to add the individuals to the list of Rules Officials.

  2. Import from Customer Contact List:

    1. Click the "Import from Customer Contact List" button.

    2. In the pop-up window, select the desired contacts from the list (as shown below).

    3. Click "Import" to add the selected contacts to the Rules Official list.

Schedule Tab:

The "Schedule" tab within the "Manage Rules Officials" page is crucial for assigning Rules Officials to specific rounds within your event (as shown below). To assign Rules Officials to rounds, check the corresponding checkbox in the table. To remove an assignment, uncheck the box.


This table allows you to:

  • Determine which Rules Officials will receive requests for assistance during each tournament round.

  • Ensure proper coverage and efficient response times for player inquiries.

  • Modify assignments as needed to ensure proper coverage and optimize on-course assistance.

How to Request a Rules Official (Via the Mobile App):

To request a Rules Official on the course, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to the Request Rules Official button:

    1. Live Scoring:

      1. Select a Player.

      2. Click the Hamburger menu button to access the menu.

      3. Tap the "Request Rules Official" button.

    2. Digital Scorecards:

      1. Confirm your details.

      2. Click the Hamburger menu button to access the menu.

      3. Tap the "Request Rules Official" button.

    3. Pace of Play:

      1. Confirm your details.

      2. Tap the "Request Rules Official" button from the foursome list.

    4. Scoring Stations:

      1. Confirm your details.

      2. Tap the "Request Rules Official" button from the foursome list.

    5. Verification Stations:

      1. Confirm your details.

      2. Tap the "Request Rules Official" button from the foursome list.

  2. Complete the Request Form (as shown below):

    1. Pairing Group: Select the pairing requesting assistance (applicable where available).

    2. Player: Select the player requesting assistance (applicable where available).

    3. Callback Number: Enter a phone number where the Rules Official can reach you.

    4. Course: Select or confirm the current course.

    5. Hole: Select or confirm the current hole.

    6. Location: Select from the available locations (i.e., Tee, Fairway, Green).

    7. Submit the Request: Tap the "Request Official" button.

  3. The Rules Official will receive a text message notification so they can respond to the request (as shown below).

Text Message Delivery Reports:

You can access Text Message Delivery Reports for all requests sent to Rules Officials. To access the delivery reports, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to Event/League > Manage Rules Officials > Schedule.

  2. Click the button for "Manage Delivery Reports" (as shown below).


The delivery reports will provide you with valuable information such as:

  • Round: The round in which the message was sent.

  • Rules Official: The recipient of the message.

  • Player: The player who initiated the request.

  • Callback Number: The phone number of the golfer who initiated the request.

  • Course: The course where the request took place.

  • Hole: The hole of the request.

  • Location: The location of the request.

  • Status: The status of the sent text message (e.g., delivered, undelivered).

  • Service Name: The name of the service used to send the text message (for administrators).

You can also filter the logs by Rules Official, Player, and Round to quickly find specific information.

By reviewing these delivery reports, you can gain insights into the usage of the Rules Official Request feature, identify any potential issues, and ensure the efficient delivery of assistance to players during your tournaments.
