Gateway Rejected: avs” Error When Updating a Credit Card

Fix the “Transaction declined. 1000 - Gateway Rejected: avs” error by making sure the billing address matches what your bank has on file.

Why am I getting a “Gateway Rejected: avs” error?

You may see this error when you try to update your credit card:

[GatewayTransactionError] Transaction declined.1000 - Gateway Rejected: avs

AVS stands for Address Verification Service. The error means the billing address you entered doesn’t match the address your bank has on file for the card. The mismatch is usually the ZIP code.

How do I fix the “Gateway Rejected: avs” error?

  1. Call the bank or card issuer for the card you’re adding. The phone number is usually on the back of the card.

  2. Ask the bank to confirm the billing address and ZIP code on file for the card.

  3. Try updating your credit card again. Enter the billing address and ZIP code exactly as the bank has them.

Tip: Small differences can cause this error, such as an old address or a mistyped ZIP code. Make sure every field matches what the bank confirmed.

What if I still get the error?

If the error continues after you confirm the address with your bank, contact Updox Support using the chat in the lower-right corner of the Updox application.
