Why has my free trial card stopped working?
If your free V1CE card has stopped working, it is most likely because it was a free Subscription-Trial card, the type V1CE sends out when you sign up for the 30-day legacy V1CE Plus free trial. These cards only work while the legacy V1CE Plus subscription is active. As soon as the trial ends or the subscription is cancelled, the free card stops working. This is part of the legacy V1CE Plus trial terms.
What is a free Subscription-Trial card
A free Subscription-Trial card is the V1CE card that ships free with a 30-day legacy V1CE Plus free trial. It is tied to that subscription. If you cancel legacy V1CE Plus, or you let the trial end without converting it, the card stops working. There is no free-plan fallback for these cards.
Standard V1CE cards (the ones you buy outright on v1ce.co) are different. Those work with both the Free Forever tier and any paid plan, and they keep working even if you never have a paid subscription.
How to check whether your card is a free Subscription-Trial card
If you received your V1CE card free when you signed up for the legacy V1CE Plus trial, meaning you did not pay for the physical card at any point, it is a Subscription-Trial card. If you paid for the card on v1ce.co, it is a standard card and this article is not about you.
If you are not sure, contact V1CE support with a photo of the QR code on the back of the card and the team will confirm.
How to get your free Subscription-Trial card working again
You have two options:
Resubscribe to legacy V1CE Plus on the link the card was attached to. As soon as the subscription is active again, the free trial card works again. Upgrade at app.v1ce.co under Settings > Manage Subscriptions.
Order a standard V1CE card from v1ce.co. Standard cards work on the Free Forever tier as well as on paid plans, and they keep working regardless of whether you have a subscription.
How to avoid this in future
Before you cancel a legacy V1CE Plus subscription that came with a free card, check whether the card you are using is the free trial card or a standard card. If it is the free trial card and you want to keep using it, either stay on Plus or order a standard card before cancelling.
