I was promised V1CE is free for life — does that still apply?

If you bought a V1CE card on the original "free for life" promise, here is what is still free and what is new and optional.

Yes, your original "free for life" V1CE access still applies. The free tier is now called V1CE Free Forever, and it still includes your V1CE card, your V1CE page, Contact Capture, your Wallet pass, and your email signature at no cost. V1CE ClientCapture OS is a separate paid tier that adds newer features. It is optional. You are not required to upgrade to keep using the card and features you originally bought.

This article is for V1CE customers who bought a V1CE card when V1CE described the software as "free for life" and are now seeing prompts to upgrade or pay.

What V1CE Free Forever still includes

V1CE Free Forever is the current name for the free tier you bought into when you purchased your V1CE card. It still includes the features you were originally promised:

  • Your V1CE card and its NFC tap.

  • Your V1CE page that opens when someone taps or scans your card.

  • Contact Capture, so people can save their details into your CRM.

  • Your Wallet pass for Apple and Google Wallet.

  • Your email signature.

None of these require a paid subscription. They are part of V1CE Free Forever and stay free for the lifetime of your account.

What V1CE ClientCapture OS adds, and why it is optional

V1CE ClientCapture OS is a separate paid tier that V1CE built after your card was purchased. It adds features that did not exist on the original software, including Smart follow-ups, Check-ins, Agreements, Services, Bookings, Scout, and deeper Insights. These are optional add-ons, not replacements for what you already had. If you do not want them, you do not need to upgrade.

Why you might be seeing upgrade prompts

You may see upgrade prompts in the dashboard when you open a feature that is part of V1CE ClientCapture OS. Closing the prompt or staying on the free V1CE Free Forever features will not affect your existing card, page, or account. Your original free access continues either way.

If you were charged for V1CE ClientCapture OS by mistake

If you were charged for V1CE ClientCapture OS and did not intend to upgrade, contact V1CE support with the transaction date and amount. V1CE will look into the charge, cancel the subscription if you did not mean to start it, and refund where appropriate.

If you are on legacy V1CE Plus, Pro, or Teams software

If you are on the legacy V1CE Plus, Pro, or Teams software, the same principle applies: the original free tier you bought into stays free, and any paid features are optional. If you are unsure which tier you are on, contact V1CE support and V1CE will confirm from your account.
