Pre-Launch Course Checklist

A step-by-step walkthrough to test your course and ensure everything’s working smoothly before launch day

Updated this week

This checklist is designed to help you walk through your course once you've already built it, and make sure everything inside Xperiencify is ready for students before going live!

First step: to preview your course as a test student, you’ll need to be on an active plan. You’ll also need to Publish your course.

✅ 1. Course Settings & Navigation

✅ 2. Training Release & Structure

✅ 3. Automation Checks

✅ 4. Forum Setup (If Using)

  • Forum groups and spaces are visible to the correct students

  • Default notification settings are set correctly for each forum space (what students will receive by default)

  • Forum notifications are turned ON for you as the admin (if you want to be notified)

  • Welcome posts or pinned posts are set in each space (if desired)

✅ 5. Do a Full Student Walkthrough — Most Important Step!

Add yourself as a student (via XP’s Order Form, or through the checkout system you’re using)

  • If you're using XP's built-in Order Form:

    • Create a coupon code that brings the course price down to $1

    • Open a new browser (not the one you’re using for admin access)

    • Find your XP Order Form Link in the “Important Links and Resources” section inside your course, and paste that link into the new browser window.

    • Purchase the course using the $1 coupon code

    • Confirm that the payment was processed correctly into your Stripe or PayPal account

  • If you're using Go Plus, or an external checkout system (i.e. Thrivecart):

    • Complete a test purchase using a low-price test offer or discount code

    • Ensure the student is added to the XP course via your automation or integration

  • Once inside your course, navigate through all pages accessible via the student navigation menu. Confirm:

  • Walk through your course and complete the trainings as a student by checking off the XP actions.
    Confirm:

✅ 6. Troubleshooting If Something Doesn’t Work as Expected

  • If an automation didn’t function as expected:

    • Go to the test student’s Activity Log to see what automations fired and when

    • The Activity Log will give you the reason why it did NOT fire (i.e. it was turned off)

    • Check the trigger and conditions of the automation in Step 5

  • If a celebration didn’t play:

    • Check if it’s turned ON

    • Check that the celebration’s trigger is correct

  • If a training didn’t unlock as expected:

    • Make sure it’s not in draft

    • Confirm required XP Actions in the previous training were completed

    • Check the conditions of any automation that should have triggered the release (if applicable)

  • If you test the course more than once or revisit portions:

    • Remember that the conditions you’ve set for an automation may prevent it from firing more than once for a single student

    • Keep in mind that Binge Mode functions sequentially - this means that if you make changes like unchecking actions, it may shift what appears next.

    • Best practice: create a new test student if you re-test. This gives you the cleanest view of the experience a brand-new student will have – without being influenced by previous activity

✅ 7. Final Prep & Launch

  • Go to the Important Links & Resources section in your course to copy your Order Form link

  • Share your Order Form or checkout link wherever you're inviting students to join — whether that's through email, social media, a sales page, or direct message

  • Set your intention, take a breath — and go live 🎉

This checklist will help you catch the most important setup steps and launch your course with clarity and confidence.

Keep aiming for excellence, but don’t wait for perfection to begin. Remember that during a beta round, unexpected glitches are normal… an automation might misfire, or a setting might not behave as planned. That’s part of translating your work into a live experience. Be transparent with your students, invite their feedback, and let that feedback help you refine.

Whether you’ve launched dozens of courses or this is your first, what matters most is that your work is reaching real people. Launch it. Let it grow. 🌱🚀🎉
