Upgrading Permissions for Shopify Native Store Credit

Learn how to grant the necessary Shopify API permissions to unlock native store credit functionality in yayloh.

Written by Vineeta Pendse

Why Upgrade to Native Store Credit?

This is a solution relevant only if your Shopify store is using New customer accounts. Shopify's native store credit allows you to issue credit tied directly to a customer's account balance instead of generating temporary coupon codes. Before yayloh can issue native store credit on your behalf, you must grant updated API permissions in your Shopify Admin.

Both standard App Store installs and Custom Apps require the following three scopes enabled:

  • write_store_credit_account_transactions

  • read_store_credit_accounts

  • read_store_credit_account_transactions

Follow the steps below based on your store's setup:

For App Store Downloads

If you installed yayloh directly via the Shopify App Store, updating your permissions is completely automated.

  1. Log in as Store Admin: Ensure you are logged into your Shopify Admin using an account with full app management permissions.

  2. Navigate to Apps: Go to your Shopify Admin dashboard, click on Apps, and select yayloh.

  3. Automatic Trigger: Before the yayloh dashboard loads, Shopify will automatically present a screen requesting approval for the new Store Credit permissions. Click Approve or Update App.

For Custom Apps (Legacy Setup)

If your yayloh integration was configured as a Custom App (typically stores set up prior to 2022), you must manually update the configuration in your back office.

  1. Open App Settings: Go to Settings > Apps and sales channels > Develop apps.

  2. Select yayloh: Click on your custom yayloh app from the list.

  3. Configuration Tab: Navigate to the Configuration tab and click Edit next to the Admin API integration section.

  4. Enable Store Credit Scopes: Scroll down or search for Store Credit. Check the boxes to enable access for both read and write capabilities for accounts and transactions.

  5. Save Changes: Click Save at the top right of the page. Your custom API credentials will instantly support native store credit.

Note: To update your yayloh store-credit method configuration to generate shopify native store credit on new customer accounts please reach out to our support team via support@yayloh.com or via our in-app support chat.
