Good to know
Native store credit stays with the customer's account, so they don't need to keep a code. It only works if your store uses Shopify's new customer accounts.
Gift cards are treated as a product in Shopify. If an order paid with a gift card is returned, you can refund the amount back to the gift card.
Discount codes are listed separately in your Shopify admin, and each one is assigned to a single customer.
Notes for cross-reference: yayloh adds a note to the store credit and the order, so you can match them.
yayloh's email for native store credit and discount codes can be styled under Settings > E-mail templates (CUSTOMER_DISCOUNT_NOTIFICATION).
