In Instories, you can make your text stand out by choosing from different fonts, adding animations, experimenting with colors (even your own palette), using ready-made templates, or uploading custom fonts. Here, you’ll find a step-by-step guide to creating stunning text.

How to Add Text:

  1. Open your project and tap Text on the bottom editing panel.

  2. Enter your text.

  3. Tap Done.

👉 Double-tap the added text to open the advanced settings panel. Here, you can add animations, change the font, color, or style, and much more.

1. Colors

To change the text color, double-tap your text to open the editing panel.

You’ll see several options:

  • Preset palette. Just pick a color from the standard set.

  • Custom color. Tap the multicolor square to manually adjust the hue and color saturation, then save the new color to your favorites by tapping Add to Favourites at the bottom.

  • Eyedropper tool. Tap the eyedropper icon on the color panel, hover over the area of your image that contains the color you want to use for your text, and then tap Done. All colors selected with the eyedropper tool are automatically saved to your favorites.

👉 To open your list of favorite colors, tap the flag or color palette icon. This is where all your saved colors and shades are stored.

2. Fonts

To change the font, tap Fonts on the text-editing panel. In this section, you can browse through different font style tabs to find the one that best fits your design. Keep in mind that not all fonts support every language.

How to Upload Your Own Font:

  1. Download the font you need to your phone in .ttf or .otf format.

  2. Tap Fonts on the text-editing panel.

  3. Scroll the font style list all the way to the left and select Your Fonts.

  4. Tap “+”.

  5. Open the folder with your downloaded font and tap on it to upload.

👉 If your font doesn’t appear in the list after uploading, don’t worry, it’s most likely fine. Different styles of the same font (like bold or italic) are automatically grouped under a single font family.

How to Find the Font You Need:

  1. Select your uploaded font.

  2. Go to the Format tab.

  3. All the font styles you’ve added will be available there.

3. Style

In this section, you can adjust the Stroke, Shadow, and Background of your text.

Stroke

Use the Stroke option to customize your text. Here’s how:

  • Double-tap your text and select Style.

  • Tap Stroke and choose any outline type from the available options.

  • Just below the outline type, you can set the stroke color using any method described in the Colors section above.

  • At the bottom, use the slider to adjust the stroke thickness.

👉 If you change your mind about adding a stroke, just select None to remove it.

Shadow

The Shadow effect adds depth and dimension to your text. To adjust it:

  • Double-tap your text and select Style.

  • Tap Shadow and choose your preferred shadow type.

  • Set your desired shadow color using any of the methods described in the Colors section above.

  • Adjust the color transparency just below the color selection area by dragging the slider closer to where it says Opacity.

  • To make the shadow appear softer, use the Blur effect.

  • To change the distance between the shadow and the text, use the Distance slider.

  • Use the Angle option to set the direction of your shadow exactly how you want it.

👉 Note: To view all advanced shadow settings, scroll down to the Shadow panel.

👉 If you decide not to use a shadow, just select None to remove it.

Background

To adjust the background of your text:

  • Double-tap the text and select Style.

  • Tap Background.

  • Choose a background color using any of the methods described in the Colors section above.

  • Use the slider to adjust the transparency, if necessary.

4. Format

In the Format tab, you can adjust the main text parameters:

  • Text style

  • Text alignment

  • Line height

  • Opacity

👉 All settings are listed one after another inside the Format tab. To access this tab, double-tap the text.

5. Text Templates

Templates are one of the most expressive text-editing options. Ready-made templates come with built-in animation, preset fonts, and stylish designs. You will find a template for any purpose you can imagine: price tags, discounts, chat messages, social media layouts, and much more.

To Apply a Template:

  • Double-tap your text and open Templates.

  • Swipe through the categories and pick the template that best fits your project.

Quick Guide to Categories:

Timers – Create a countdown effect that ends with your text appearing on the screen. This is perfect for time-limited offers.

Stylish – A selection of the most trendy and eye-catching effects to make your text stand out.

Bubble – Place your text inside an animated frame (circle, oval, or star). This is ideal for special offers, before/after comparisons, or highlighting new arrivals.

Markers – Draw attention to part of your text or image. Great for showing prices, product details, or creating a checked-off list effect.

Shop – Perfect for highlighting product prices, discounts, or other special deals.

Social – Make your social tags and follow prompts stand out (for Telegram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and more).

Digital – Create realistic digital elements, such as chat messages, subscribe buttons, like counters that increase over time, browser search bars, and more.

Subtitle – Templates designed to give your subtitles a distinctive look and feel.

Special – Bold and unexpected effects to instantly catch the eye.

👉 In the Recent tab, you’ll find all the templates you’ve used recently.

6. Animation

Use the Animations section to add motion to your customized text without changing its appearance. Only the animation will be applied, while the font, stroke, shadow, and other settings will remain exactly as you set them, which makes this feature different from the ready-made templates.

To apply an animation:

  • Double-tap the text and select Animations.

  • Choose any animation style from the Basic or Dynamic categories.

👉 To remove an animation, tap the crossed-out circle icon next to the style tabs.
