The Timeline tool is the best choice if you want each element in your video to appear and disappear at the perfect moment. A simple and intuitive editor lets you control the duration of every element in your project.
In Reels projects, the timeline is always shown at the bottom of the editing screen. Drag the panel up or down to make it bigger or smaller. In Stories projects, tap Timeline at the bottom of the editing screen to open it.
On the timeline, you can adjust the timing for:
Text and captions
Media (photos and videos)
Stickers and logos
Music and voiceovers
How to Add a New Element via the Timeline:
Open the Timeline.
At the bottom of the screen, tap the tool for the element you want to add (for example, Graphic → Sticker or Audio → Music) and choose one from the list.
A new track with the added element will appear on the timeline.
👉 Texts and stickers that don’t overlap in time can share one row. To move an element to another row, press and hold it and drag it.
👉 You can also add a new photo or video by tapping the “+” icon to the left of the main media track. Next to it is the Mute all button, which turns off the sound of all videos on the main track.
👉 Pinch the timeline to zoom in or out — from fractions of a second up to about 1.5 minutes on the screen.
👉 If you opened a template and don’t see this tool, you may be in the simplified editor. Tap Switch to full to open the full editor with all tools (tap Return to lite to go back).
How to Adjust an Element’s Duration:
Open the Timeline and select the track of the element you want to edit.
To change when it appears, drag the start of the track.
To change when it disappears, drag the end of the track.
👉 The maximum display duration for any added element is 180 seconds.
How to Move an Element on the Timeline:
Press and hold the element’s duration segment on the track, then drag it to the desired position in your project. This tool is great for fine-tuning your scenes.
