Add Music

Music helps set the tone and atmosphere for your project. In Instories, there are several ways to add tracks: choose tracks from the built-in library, generate your own with AI, upload personal files, or add songs from iTunes (available for iOS only).

To Add Music:

  1. Open your project.

  2. Tap Music on the editing panel.

  3. Choose a music source and add a track.

Music Sources:

Instories Library

You’ll find plenty of tracks in this section. Use the menu at the top to browse different styles and pick the one you like.

All tracks here are longer than 30 seconds. Simply pick a track, move the playhead to the point where you want the music to start, and tap Done.

AI Music

To create a more personalized touch, try adding AI-generated music. Simply choose a musical style at the top of the screen and tap Generate.

You can create several tracks and pick the one you like best. To do this, choose a track, move the playhead to the point where you want the music to start, and tap Done.

My Music

You can add your own music in a few ways:

  • Load from iTunes. Pick songs from your iTunes library (available for iOS only).

  • Extract audio from video. Choose a video from your gallery to extract its audio, which will then appear in your collection. From there, simply select the extracted audio and tap Done.

  • Import from files. Select a file from any folder on your phone. The track will be added to your collection. From there, tap the imported file and press Done.

iTunes

Available on iOS only. You can add songs straight from iTunes by using the search and category tabs at the top of the page to find what you’re looking for.

To Add a Track:

  • Tap iTunes next to your desired song.

  • Select Buy Track.

Since Apple doesn’t allow the use of demo versions for free, you must purchase the song before it can be used. Please note that iTunes music usage is not included in the Instories subscription.

👉 If you’ve already purchased a track in iTunes, you can add it from My Music – Load from iTunes. Just ensure that Apple Music access is enabled.

👉 Instagram typically does not block personal, non-commercial content, which includes iTunes music. However, there can be exceptions that we have no control over. Instagram has its own review system that operates independently from us. To avoid any risk of your selected music being blocked, we recommend using tracks from the Instories Library (except those found in the Trending section) or AI Music.

👉 Also, note that iTunes music is limited to 30 seconds per track. To add longer audio, use Instories Library, your own files, or audio extracted from a video.

What Else You Can Do

1. Replace Music:

  • Tap Timeline at the bottom of the editor.

  • Select the track timeline.

  • Tap Replace.

  • Choose a better-fitting track from the suggested ones.

2. Delete Music:

  • Tap Timeline on the editing panel at the bottom of the screen.

  • Select the timeline with the unwanted track.

  • Tap Delete.

3. Adjust Music Volume:

  • Tap Timeline on the editing panel at the bottom.

  • Select the music timeline.

  • Tap Volume.

  • Use the slider to set the volume level that feels comfortable for you.

4. Split an Audio Track:

  • Tap Timeline at the bottom of the editing panel.

  • Select the music timeline.

  • Tap Split.

  • Now, you can edit each audio segment separately within your project.

5. Add Multiple Tracks (iOS Only):

  • Tap Music again on the bottom editing panel.

  • Choose another track.

A new audio track will appear on the timeline. You can adjust each track by dragging its right or left edge to set the length and playback order.

Commercial Use of Music

For commercial projects, use tracks only from Instories Library (excluding those found in the Trending section) or AI music. Tips on choosing the right music are always available directly in the app.

👉 If your exported project has saved without music, don’t worry, this isn’t an error. You can learn more about it here.
