Error FAQ: Duplicate Barcode at Target+

A common error when listing products on Target+ is the "duplicate barcode" error. This guide explains what it means and how to resolve it.

Why am I seeing the error "The item's barcode duplicates an existing Target core product.: Barcode"?

This error means the barcode (UPC/GTIN) for your product already exists in Target's internal product catalog.

This is usually because the item has a history with Target in one of the following ways:

  • In-Store (1P): The product was previously sold directly by Target in their physical stores.

  • Drop-Ship (2P): The product was previously sold on Target.com through their drop-ship vendor program.

  • Existing Listing: In rare cases, another third-party seller has already listed your exact product on Target+.

How do I fix this?

Because the issue is within Target's internal catalog, it is outside of Acenda's control. You must contact Target support directly to resolve it.

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Target Partner Portal.

  2. Navigate to the support section and open a new support ticket.

  3. In the ticket, clearly explain the issue. State that you are receiving a "duplicate barcode" error for a specific product and provide the barcode number.

  4. Request that Target's support team investigate and resolve the conflict so you can list your product.
