Role-Based Permissions in Chariot

Chariot gives Owner-level users control over what different team members can see and edit across the platform through role-based permissions.

How It Works

All users at your company can view the Settings → General → Company-Wide Settings page. By default, only users with an Owner role can edit those settings.

Owners can choose which roles are allowed to edit each individual setting — giving you granular control over who can change what.

Setting Permissions by Role

  1. Go to Settings → General

  2. Click By Role

  3. For each permission or feature, use the dropdowns to select which roles should have access

  4. Save your changes

Company-Wide Settings Permissions

Within the Company-Wide Settings page itself, Owners can control which roles can edit each specific setting. This means you can allow Managers to edit certain settings while restricting others to Owners only.

What You Can Control

Role-based permissions let you manage access to:

  • Which roles can edit company-wide settings

  • Access to specific pages or features within Chariot

  • Crew-specific permissions (e.g., access to Bill of Lading, ability to send mover texts)

For crew roles specifically, permissions are managed under Resources → Role Management. See How to use mover roles in Chariot for more detail.

Summary

  • Only Owners can edit company-wide settings by default

  • Use Settings → General → By Role to configure permissions per role

  • Crew-level permissions are managed separately in Resources → Role Management
