Payment Timing, Scheduling & Date Rules

When your card is charged, how scheduling works, why payments default to next month, and date restrictions.

When Will My Card Be Charged?

  • For recurring payments: Your card is always charged at 4am ET, 4 business days before your listed payment due date.

  • For one-time payments: Your card is charged immediately when you submit the payment. If it is a pre-scheduled one-time payment, your card will be charged 4 business days before the due date.

How Do I Confirm My Payment Will Be Sent on the Correct Date?

If your payment is recurring:

  • It will process on the scheduled due date

  • Charge date varies slightly due to settlement timing. We are required to charge you 4 business days prior to your due date

Why Is My Payment Scheduled for Next Month?

Chexy requires at least 5 business days between when we charge your credit card and when your payment is due. This ensures that the funds have sufficient time to settle before being issued to your payee.

If your payment is defaulting to next month, it likely means you missed the activation window for this month's payment.

How the Timing Works

  • You must activate your payment at least 5 business days before your due date (by 12 PM ET).

  • We charge your credit card at approximately 5 AM ET, 4 business days before your due date.

  • On the due date, we release the payment to your landlord or service provider.

If you've recently set up your payment and expected it to go through this month, but it's scheduled for the following month instead, this is likely why.

Why Can't I Set My Payment to the 29th, 30th, or 31st?

Because not all months have 29, 30, or 31 days. February has only 28 days (29 in a leap year).

Chexy does not support "30th only" fixed scheduling.

What Happens Instead?

  • End of month → It adjusts to the last valid calendar day

  • A specific day → It must exist in all months
