When it comes to booking more work, gaining experience, and advancing your career, your ClassCover profile is your digital first impression. A well-crafted profile catches the attention of schools, showcases your qualifications, and helps you stand out. Follow these 8 tips to make your profile more attractive to schools and increase your chances of booking work.
1. Complete Your Profile
The first step to success on ClassCover is completing your profile. A fully completed profile shows schools that you’re qualified and ready to work, increasing your chances of securing more bookings.
Ensure every section of your profile is filled out, including:
Personal Information: Your contact details and teaching levels.
Qualifications: Degrees, certifications, and relevant training.
Work Experience: Previous teaching roles and responsibilities.
Skills: Specializations, languages, or extracurricular expertise.
Supporting Documents: Upload your CV, certificates, and any other relevant documents.
💡 Tip: Look for the progress bar on your profile page to see how much of your profile is complete. The more details you provide, the better your chances of getting booked.
2. Upload a Profile Picture
A profile picture makes a great first impression – just like introducing yourself to a new school in person. In fact, a survey revealed that 1/3 of schools would be unlikely to book a casual who didn’t have a profile picture.
Photo Tips:
Use a headshot from the shoulders up with good lighting.
Tip: face a window or light source to help achieve great lighting in your photo!
Dress professionally and try to have a neutral background.
Don't forget to smile! This will help convey approachability.
3. Include Your CV
Upload your CV to your ClassCover profile to highlight your experience, qualifications, skills and any additional credentials you have. This makes your profile more comprehensive and attractive to schools. You can find helpful tips on how to upload your CV and supporting qualifications here.
Pro Tip: Uploading your CV also helps your profile stand out to employers when applying for jobs on ClassCover Jobs.
4. Keep Your Availability Updated
A completed profile is important, but keeping your availability updated is just as crucial. Schools need to know when you’re available to teach, and failure to update your calendar regularly may decrease your chances of being booked.
What happens when you don’t update your availability?
59% of schools said they wouldn’t book a casual who hasn’t recently updated their availability.
Updating your availability increases your chances of being selected for assignments. You can also add bookings made outside the platform to your ClassCover calendar to keep everything in one place.
5. Respond to All Booking Requests
While it’s tempting to ignore booking requests when you’re busy, responding to every booking request is essential. Ignoring requests can leave a bad impression and, over time, may result in being removed from school lists.
Tip: Always respond, even if you can’t take the job. This shows professionalism and keeps your relationship with schools strong.
6. Reach Out to Schools
Don’t wait for schools to find you – be proactive! Use the Find New Schools feature to browse schools in your area and request to join their list.
For Immediate Work: Check out the ClassCover Jobs portal for casual openings, contract positions, and more.
7. Get the Green Tick (NSW & BCE Teachers Only)
For teachers in NSW, ClassCover integrates with the Department of Education to show a green tick on your profile. This indicates that your mandatory training is up to date and that you meet the qualifications required to teach.
Green Tick: Congrats, you’re ready to go!
Orange Tick: You may have outstanding training or missing records from the Department of Education.
We surveyed our NSW public schools and nearly 70% won't book casuals without a green tick. Schools are also removing casuals from their list who have orange ticks and no ticks at all, so it's important to get this.
Tip: If you don’t see the green tick, follow the steps to complete your training or update your records with the Department of Education.
8. Enhance Your Profile with a Shareable Portfolio
Activate your ClassCover Shareable Portfolio to showcase your skills and experience to schools, even those not using ClassCover. This feature acts as a digital resume, allowing you to share your profile via a unique link. Learn more about setting up your Shareable Portfolio here.
By following these tips, you’ll create a profile that stands out, attracts schools, and increases your chances of getting booked. Update your profile today and start building your education career with ClassCover!
