You can use CoGrader to grade Blackboard submissions even though Blackboard doesn’t have a direct integration with CoGrader. This article walks you through how to export student submissions from Blackboard, upload them into CoGrader for grading, and return feedback into Blackboard efficiently.

Step 1: Export Student Submissions from Blackboard

Option 1: Download All Submissions for an Assignment

Full steps on how to download students submission from Blackboard - HERE

  1. Log in to Blackboard and open your course.

  2. Go to the Grade CenterFull Grade Center.

  3. Find the column for the assignment you want to download.

  4. Click the dropdown arrow next to the assignment name and select Assignment File Download.

  5. Choose whether to download submissions for all students or specific students.

  6. Click Submit, then Download assignments now.

    • Blackboard will create a ZIP file containing all student submissions.

  7. Save and extract the ZIP file — each student’s file will be labeled with their name and username.

Tip: If your students submitted directly in the text box (not as attachments), use Grade Center → View Grade Details → Download Attempts to capture those responses as text or PDF.

Step 2: Upload Submissions to CoGrader

  1. Log in to your CoGrader account.

  2. Create a new class or select an existing one.

  3. Upload Submissions and select the extracted student files from Blackboard (PDF, DOCX, or text files).

Step 3: Grade and Review in CoGrader

Once your files are uploaded:

Step 4: Return Feedback to Blackboard

Option 1: Upload Feedback for Each Student

  1. In Blackboard, go to the Grade Center and open the assignment column.

  2. Click the Attempt for a student.

  3. Under the Feedback to Learner section:

    • Upload the feedback PDF from CoGrader using Attach File, or

    • Paste text feedback directly into the comment box.

  4. Click Submit to return the feedback to the student.

Option 2: Bulk Upload Feedback Files (For File-Based Assignments)

If your Blackboard administrator has Assignment File Uploads enabled:

  1. Go to the assignment in Grade Center.

  2. Select Assignment File Upload.

  3. Choose your CoGrader feedback ZIP file (make sure filenames match student usernames).

  4. Click Submit to bulk attach feedback to student submissions.

Tip: Blackboard automatically matches feedback files to students when filenames include their username or unique ID.
