Summary
When you first open ForeSite, you can customize it based on what you are doing. For example, you can hide KPIs, the chart, and show and hide the scenarios. In the table, you can show either the items or scenarios.
Scenarios can be used to easily manage VO items and group them together. Think of a scenario as a path to meet the budget. When you open a scenario, you can see the items that are part of it, and the status of each. You can see the cost impact of each scenario on the project estimate forecast.
To create a new scenario, go to the Items tab and start by selecting the items you want to group together. A dialog will show the cost implications of each item as well as the cumulative cost effect of the selected items.
Note that you can only add pending items to a scenario, and you cannot add mutually exclusive items to one scenario.
You can add them to an existing scenario, or save them as a new scenario.
Click on the edit menu next to a scenario to rename it, and browse a list of all your items, so you can easily manage the items in the scenario.

Approving and rejecting VO items can be done by scenario, or by individual item. To approve an item, select the checkbox, click Approve.
Then specify a future milestone. If you do not already have a future milestone, you can create one directly from this window. Click Yes on the bottom of this window to finish the approval process.
To approve a scenario, go to the Scenarios tab, select the scenario, and follow the same process. Click Approve, specify a future milestone, and then click Yes.
The effects of approved and rejected items and scenarios is summarized in the ForeSite Summary, where you can find the current estimate and the cumulative value of approved, rejected and pending items.
