Summary

  1. In ForeSite, you can identify mutually exclusive groups or items. When you identify two items as mutually exclusive, it means you can approve only one of them.

  2. In the value optioneering table, mutually exclusive items can be identified from the M/E column. Mutually exclusive items are organized within groups.

  3. To identify mutually exclusive items, open an item, and scroll down to the mutually exclusive section. Here you can create a new group to host this item and the other mutually exclusive item. Or you can add this item to a previously created group.

  4. Once an item is part of a group, you will see the option to add more items to this group. Once you are done with all your edits, click Save.

  5. In the table, you can click on the Mutually Exclusive filter, to keep only the groups of mutually exclusive items.

  6. Note that if you select one item to approve, any mutually exclusive items will be greyed out since you can approve only one.

  7. Finally, when you display the beta range of value optioneering items, the additive value cost here is the highest among mutually exclusive items. And for deductive items, the cost displayed is the lowest cost deduct between the mutually exclusive items.
