How does an automatic connection via VIN work?

Discover an easy method to connect your vehicle using a unique number

EEVEE Mobility uses a direct connection to your electric or hybrid vehicle to access charging data. This allows your company to reimburse you for home charging and monitor work/public charging.

What is the 'old' way?

Most vehicles need to be connected by the user via our mobile app. This process requires manual work, entering access credentials, looking up your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), and so on.

These steps also differ per car manufacturer. You can find an overview here. This often creates frustration with drivers and fleet managers.

What is the 'NEW' way?

To simplify this process, company vehicles can now be added automatically using their unique identification number (VIN). How does this work?

  1. Fleet managers create driver invites, adding the VIN of every car

  2. EEVEE Mobility does various checks for security & technical feasibility

    1. If the vehicle is compatible with automatic connection:

      1. We set the vehicle in a 'pending' state.

      2. The car manufacturer can 'approve' the connection request

      3. The driver can 'approve' the connection via the mobile app onboarding

      4. Once everyone has accepted, the data synchronisation starts 🎉

    2. If the vehicle is not compatible with automatic connection:

      1. The driver can still add the car via the mobile app manually, see here

      2. Once the connection is done, the data synchronisation will start

How do I 'approve' the connection?

If your vehicle is compatible, you will receive an invitation email like anyone else. You should follow the same onboarding steps as described here. After downloading the app and logging in/signup up, you will see the following screen:

This will show the vehicle that was assigned to your account by your fleet manager. You can approve the connection or 'skip' until later. The data will only start synchronising once we have your explicit approval.

⚠️ If this is not your vehicle, please inform your employer to modify the invite.
